Nelda Clifton is a member of Jack Ray VFW Auxiliary 5789 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, in District 5.

She joined the Auxiliary in December 1979 under the eligibility of her father, Harold Bunch, who served New Guinea during WWII in the Army. She was also a member of the Jr. Girls from the age of I until she joined the Auxiliary after her tenure as Jr. Girl President at the age of 17 to become the Jr. Girl Adviser for the Auxiliary.

On December 8, 1985 she began her 30 year career at VFW National Headquarters working in the Insurance Department and then transferring the Programs Department, She retired in 2016 after 30 years, 1 month, and 1 week to continue her serving in the Department Chairs and become the Department President during the 2017-2028 year.

She is a full-time caretaker of her mother and enjoys cross stitching, diamond art, and assisting veterans.

She is married to her husband Charlie Clifton, who is also a VFW Member, her mother, Dorothy Neal, one sister, one brother, one sister-in-law, 2 daughters and their husbands and 4 grandchildren, and scads of grandpups.
