Our nation made a promise to those who serve, and through our advocacy, we fight to ensure that promise is kept.
Legislative Chairman: Monica R Schroeder
The VFW Auxiliary Legislative Program centers on grassroots advocacy to improve the lives of veterans, service members, and their families. Working alongside nearly 1.5 million combined members, the program leverages collective action to influence lawmakers based on the annual
VFW Priority Goals, which focus on veterans' healthcare, benefits, military readiness, and national security. Members stay informed and mobilize using tools like the
VFW Action Corps Weekly, tracking congressional representatives, and monitoring federal bills via Congress.gov.
This grassroots effort directly backs the VFW Washington, D.C. office, which actively lobbies Congress, testifies at hearings, and has shaped nearly every major piece of veterans' legislation for generations. Furthermore, the program fosters future advocacy leaders through the annual VFW-SVA Legislative Fellowship. This initiative provides student veterans the opportunity to meet directly with key congressional committees and ensure the challenges facing today's veterans are heard on Capitol Hill.
