EXTENSION & REVITALIZATION PROGRAM

The VFW Auxiliary Extension & Revitalization Program provides crucial guidance and resources to ensure local Auxiliaries remain healthy, successful, and well-maintained. The program actively encourages members, promotes teamwork, and offers vital support during challenging transitions such as suspension, consolidation, or the loss of a Charter. Additionally, it works closely with Department President and official organizers to establish brand-new Auxiliaries.

The steps for creating a new Auxiliary remain the same whether the idea originates from a VFW Post, a member, or a non-member. First, a VFW Post must vote by a two-thirds majority to establish an Auxiliary, as one can never exist independently or be started without this explicit Post approval. Following the vote, the Department President appoints an official organizer who must be a current VFW Auxiliary member. The group must then secure a minimum of fifteen eligible applicants on the Charter application, excluding transfers. Finally, organizers must complete the official paperwork from the VFW Auxiliary National Headquarters, which is readily accessible through any Department President, Secretary, or Chief of Staff.
